Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles is a private bilingual
and international institution founded in 1964-1965 by Mr. and Mrs. Raymond
Kabbaz. It is an American non-profit corporation.
Le Lycée provides scholarships to qualifying families
regardless of the nationality of the students, American, French or international.
Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles includes all
grades from Kindergarten to 12th Grade.
Le Lycée has an American section, which conforms
to the American curriculum and leads to the High School diploma.
Le Lycée has a French section which follows the
official French program leading to the French Baccalauréat. Students are
prepared for the "PSAT, NMSQT, SQT, TOEFL and AP". Le Lycée Français
is a college preparatory institution. Our college advisor, Dr. Craig Hands,
handles each student's college placement individually. Students from the
French section can also prepare for the American High School Diploma.
All grades at the Lycée Français de Los Angeles, from Preschool to 12th
Grade, are accredited by the prestigious "Western Association of Schools
and Colleges". This accreditation is an indispensable condition for acceptance
to American, French and international universities.
Le Lycée is also accredited by the French Government
which provides scholarships to children of qualifying families and sends
teachers from France (T.D.A.). Our students are accepted to French universities,
American universities (California Institute of Technology, U.C.L.A.,
Stanford,etc...) as well as "Ivy League" universities: Harvard,
Yale, Princeton…
Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles is also accredited
by the European Organization of International Schools and the Federation
of French Private Non-denominational Schools (E.C.I.S. "European Council
Schools of America"). With a faculty of approximately 100 teachers,
Le Lycée enrolls about 1000 students. Classes are kept small to maintain
a high level of individual attention. The intensive study of French and
English is required for all students as soon as pre-school.

organized by the French Senate on the theme of "The Charta of
the citizen of the year 2000."

campuses and represent over 55 nationalities, with about 50 to 60 %
of French citizens.

the Lycée Français uniform which abolishes social differences between
students and enhances the school spirit.

to qualifying students of French nationality according to family income.
Le Lycée Français offers scholarships to students of all nationalities,
upon justification of financial need and demonstration of students'
abilities.

per class to maintain a high level of individual attention.
- At Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, all students
are encouraged to actively participate in school life. Annual elections
for President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer are held for
members of the Student Body Association in 11th and 12th grades. Annual
elections for President and Vice President of each class are also held
starting in 2nd grade.
- The President of each class is mandated to
represent his or her classmates in front of the teachers and to act
as attorney, should one of his classmates be cited to appear in front
of the disciplinary committee.
- All Presidents and Vice Presidents of classes
starting in 5th grade meet regularly in committees under the leadership
of the President and Vice President of the Student Body Association
to decide on activities such as dances, field trips, etc…

- Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles is headed
by Mrs Clara-Lisa Kabbaz daughter of the founders: Mr. Raymond Kabbaz
and Mrs. Esther Kabbaz.
- Faculty
- Approximately one hundred teachers, two thirds
of them being French, teach on three campuses.
- 30% of the teachers have PhDs or are holders
of the French Agregation diploma (highest teaching qualification).
- Some French teachers are sent from France by
the Ministry of Education after being interviewed and selected in Paris
by the President and Director of the Lycée Français de Los Angeles (usually
in March or April).
- The French Government also offers educational
help through missions of evaluation, orientation and inspection. Qualified
and experienced candidates may apply for teaching positions at Le Lycée
